Calling all landowners in the parishes of St Agnes and Perranzabuloe

Affordable housing remains a critical priority in Cornwall and no more so than in the high value North Coast villages. So Carrick District Council is this week launching a general call for land in the parishes of Perranzabuloe and St Agnes.

We would like to hear urgently from any agent/landowner/developer/land user who may have land they are willing to offer in the stated areas.

What kind of sites are we looking for?
Sites should be within or well related to settlements with at least some community facilities. In particular we are looking for sites within or adjacent to the villages of St Agnes, Blackwater, Perranporth, Goonhavern, Mount Hawke and Porthtowan. To make development economic, we are looking for single sites, or grouped sites which provide a minimum of an acre of developable land.

How will sites be assessed?
Officers will be available to deal with all land enquiries and appraise the suitability of the sites for development. Land must still meet good planning principles. The Council will assess each site looking at their location and the impact of any development, for example on the landscape. We will also consider constraints which might affect development such as access, ground conditions and services.

What happens next?
If you consider your site is suitable, officers can discuss a number of options as to how it might be taken forward. The Council or a Housing Association may be interested in purchase or an option to purchase subject to planning. Owners may want help to bring forward the site themselves within the Council’s policies for affordable housing.

What land owners need to do
Any interested land owners should submit a site plan and a completed pro forma sheet providing as many details as possible. You can request a pro forma sheet or obtain more information by contacting the Affordable Housing Team on 01872 224438.

The completed sheet should be returned together with a plan defining the boundaries of the site by 20th March 2009. Please return hard copies in an envelope addressed to Affordable Housing Unit, Carrick District Council, Carrick House, Pydar Street, Truro, TR1 1EB.
