Sheffield architect firm appointed for school projects

Sheffield architects Race Cottam have returned from the UK’s largest educational exhibition, confirming their status as one of the country’s leading deliverers of high quality school projects.

Race Cottam exhibited at the Building Schools Exhibition and Conference (BSEC) in Manchester, which is a key event for those at the forefront of UK school building. It covers the Government’s school building initiatives, including the £20 billion Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme.

The 2009 BSEC exhibition was the biggest ever, attracting more than 5,000 attendees from both public and private sectors, with over 270 exhibitors showcasing their services.

Themed ‘Listen, Create, Deliver’, Race Cottam’s display demonstrated the practice’s belief in a strong link between good design and improving education.

Mark Barker, regional director at Race Cottam, said: “We were proud to be involved in BSEC for the first time, consolidating our position as one of the country’s leading educational design teams.

“Not only did the exhibition attract a record number of attendees as the Government pushes ahead with its multi-billion pound capital investment programme, it also represented a unique opportunity to showcase our educational design projects to a wider national audience.”

Race Cottam were recently appointed to deliver four schools in Bradford as part of the governments £20 billion Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme.

Successful Race Cottam education projects have also recently been completed at Sir Thomas Wharton Community College in Doncaster and Sinfin Community School in Derby.
